Gontse’s professional career spans more than two decades. Since the start of his first job, he has developed a knack for creative problem solving in financial services, wealth creation and the management of real assets. He has been leading the business of Mahube for five years. Prior to that, he was COO of an investment company that operates a sizeable property business, as well as invests in high impact businesses in energy, fintech, cloud computing and healthcare sectors.
Gontse started his career in January 2003 as an actuarial analyst at Sanlam Life, before moving to a division of Old Mutual that provided actuarial consulting services in the employee benefits space. He subsequently transitioned into financial management and investment banking roles, before assuming a role of key investment executive across various economic verticals. He is proficient in both listed and unlisted capital markets, having been exposed to operations and participated in the governance of stock exchange-listed companies for nearly twenty years. This proficiency underpins his passion for innovative capital structures to finance the profitable growth of businesses.
He holds a Master of Sciences degree in Actuarial Management from Bayes Business School at City St George’s, University of London.
