Located near Postmasburg, Northern Cape, the Jasper Solar PV Farm is currently the largest photovoltaic power plant on the African continent. With more than 325,000 Solar PV modules installed over an area covering 150 hectares, the plant comprises 39 central inverter stations, each of which has capacity of 2 MW-AC. These are expected to generate 180 GWh of electricity annually. The facility, which is adjacent to the Lesedi Solar PV Farm, became operational in December 2014 and has a government-guaranteed Power Purchase Agreement with Eskom that runs until November 2034.
